Month 4 of Yarn Diet: Complete

My Stats:

Skeins used in the month of April: 8
Total skein count left: 261 (the skein count has gone up and down because I didn’t count the skeins I had bought for custom orders until after the orders were filled, so now the leftovers have been added to my stash count and also because I bought yarn at Stitches South…naturally)
Total FOs completed in April: 3 (A hedgehog, an earflap beanie and a pair of knucks)
Total yarn purchases in April: 2 (I went to Stitches South, whaddya expect? oh, and I had to buy some yarn to get started on a Christmas present for my Dad)
Total purchase remaining: 2

lots of this going on this month

Ok, so not the greatest numbers, but at least I do have some Finished Objects for this month.  Hopefully May will be better, but seeing as to how I have some major uprooting coming my way, we’ll just have to wait and see how much knitting gets done!

How is everyone else doing on their diets?

*Oh, and I’ve got something big coming for you all tomorrow!  Be sure to check back :D

Month 3 of Yarn Diet: Complete

My stats:

Skeins used in the month of March: 0
Total skein count left: 243
Total FOs completed in March: 0
Total yarn purchases in March: 0
Total purchase remaining: 4

A benefit of having such dismal numbers for March?  I finished two projects on the first of April!  Many of my projects were >this< close to completion but as it didn’t happen in the month of March and rather on the first day of April, I didn’t feel it fair to count them here.  They’ll get a proper write-up in their own post, hopefully this week.

Knitting outside the other day, we were visited by a positive omen :)

My work-in-progress for the month was these knucks, which have since been completed (or at least the knitting portion was completed, there may be fabric lining and reinforcements added, but as of now, I’m counting them done).

I did not get nearly as much knitting as I normally do done this month, it was so busy with all of my weekend trips (this past weekend was the first that I’ve been home in over a month!) and all of my school nonsense, knitting definitely fell by the wayside.  April will bear much more knitted fruit!  (Maybe not “fruit” per se…but accessories and the like!)

Month 2 of Yarn Diet: Complete

My stats:

Skeins used in the month of February: 6
Total skein count left: 243
Total FOs completed in February: 6 (four hats, a shift knob cover, a pair of knucks)
Total yarn purchases in February: 0 (well, none that count towards my stash, I did have to order some yarn for a few custom orders I received)
Total purchase remaining: 4

My FO count isn’t very impressive this month, things have been really crazy busy with school and the rock climbing and ultimate frisbee-ing I’ve been doing.  I was out of town last Thursday through Sunday for a rock climbing competition and I’m leaving again this Friday through Sunday for an ultimate Frisbee tournament.  But I hope to use the driving time to crank out some more projects to share with you :)

1 Month of Yarn Diet: Complete

My stats:

Skeins used in the month of January: 13
Total skein count left: 249
Total FOs completed in January: 6 (a tie, a sweater, 2 pandas, 2 bags) ((oh and I added a new widget over there —–> so you I can better track my FOs this year))
Total yarn purchases in January: 1
Total purchase remaining: 4

I know the numbers above don’t exactly make too much sense (you used 13 balls but still have 249 left? what’s that about?) and I’ll explain that more tomorrow.

I’m very excited about tracking how many FOs I have this year, most other knitters do this but its something that I’ve never tried before, I usually just finish a project and that’s that.  I have no idea how many projects I finished in 2010, and I wish I did.  This year, I’m going to change that!

Hop on over to Tami’s blog to see how the other Yarn Dieters are doing!

Yarn Diet 2011

Remember back here when I mentioned my yarn stash?  I noticed over on Tami’s Amis that she and a few other cool ladies are doing a Yarn Diet for the next 5 months, how cool is that?

I’m going to try to participate.

There, its been said finite and out loud (as well as on the keyboard). The rules are that you can’t buy yarn more than 5 times in the next five months except for a few special cases and if you just so happen to use up half of your stash in that time.

I went and counted and photographed all* of my yarn the other day. I started with the shelves in my room.  Didn’t seem so bad.  Then I remembered the closet at the end of the hall….and those drawers over there…and maybe that bag…and…you see where this is going.

Wanna see what I’m workin with?

To start you off today we have some lovely appetizers: the purples and pinks, reds, greens, and whites and creams from my stash.

makes your mouth water doesn't it?

Next up we’re offering some scrumptious blues, blacks, browns and of course the yellows and oranges hiding in there.

I don't know about you, but I just want to dig in!

And now I’m sure you all wanna know what the magic number is huh?

Want to guess first? No?

Ok, its:

1+4+36+16+...+4 = 250?!

I know right? Its a lot.  And I don’t know that I’ll be able to knit through half of it in 5 months, especially with school, but this Diet should help me from adding to it and making my inevitable move more difficult than necessary.

* – “all” was defined very loosely for the purposes of my sanity
