Musical Monday: Paper Tongues

Happy Monday!Ā  I’m still on my way back from a weekend in Colorado Springs watching the Pike’s Peak International Hill Climb but wanted to share more music with you guys šŸ™‚Ā  This whole album is really good, I definitely recommend that you check them out!

What have you been listening to lately?

Random on Friday

  • Today is the last day to join in our Mystery KAL!
  • First clue goes out Sunday!
  • IĀ  made a project page for that sweater
  • My wrists kind of hurt from working so hard on the sweater
  • Worth it
  • I made squash latkes the other day using my own version of this recipe

Latkes, quinoa and red wine for the win
  • They were delicious and will be made again.
  • I’m heading to the Pike’s Peak International Hill Climb this weekend.
  • You may remember my experiences last year

Climbing in Garden of the Gods
  • I’m already thinking ahead for Christmas presents, are you?

More of a Peak

Yesterday I didn’t exactly show you the sweater I was making, just the massive ball of yarn it was coming from.

this will not be a bra-sweater

Now that it’s grown enough that you can start to see the pattern and I can actually try it on, I decided it was about time to show you all.

cameraface, excuse the crazy hair, I was feeling lazy

This is what I consider a “mindless” project – easy raglan shape, easy numbers, straightforward lace panel, thick yarn and needles.

the ball baby is getting smaller

What do you consider mindless?

Knitting Something Just For Me

“Just For Me” means that the pattern for this won’t be coming, at least for a while.

don’t you think it’ll be cozy to wear that happy color this winter when it’s grey and cold?

I’m trying to use up a larger-than-my-head sized ball of yellow merino that was knit up into a sweater some years ago, never worn and subsequently frogged.

A “normal” sized cake of worsted weight yarn for scale

I’m just doing a simple, raglan-style pullover with a lacy detail down the front and I’m already on the sleeve divide šŸ™‚

What have you made lately that was just for you?

And, as always, linking up with Tami’s WIP Wednesdays!

Playing Tour Guide

I love where I live.Ā  I love being able to go up and get lost in the mountains within a ten minute drive of my house.

mountains, trees, sunsets

I love that I have rivers, lakes, rock climbing and hiking around every corner

little rocks, big rocks, little waters, big waters

I love that little (and occasionally not-so-little) wonders are everywhere

Boulder Falls

I love playing tour guide when friends and family come to visit.

What do you love the most about where you live?

Wrap Up of the Week

I know I wasn’t around much this week and for that I apologize, things have been crazy.

  • The Compass Rose Mystery KAL was released (there’s still plenty of time to sign up, Tina’s also having a shop update today!)
  • I’ve been balancing training for my first half marathon with the knee pain that hinders me much too early to be reasonable
  • I’ve tried to make myself get out and about (do you ever feel the need to force this on yourself?)
  • I’ve been knitting on sooper seekrit projects and wanting to knit on less seekrit projects
  • I was out of town last weekend and will have company this weekend šŸ™‚
  • I’m beginning to destash the SABLE (stash amassed beyond life expectancy)
  • I’m trying to do more with my Ravelry Group
  • Not to mention all of the designs that are always happening at various levels of completion
  • I’m also trying to overhaul my bookkeeping system and that in and of itself is a headache and a half

What have you been up to this week?Ā  Has it been crazy everywhere or just here?Ā  Do ya’ll have any fun weekend plans?

Mystery KAL – Compass Rose Stole

In case you haven’t heard, Tina of Bittersweet Woolery and I have been collaborating for lots of a few months on a design using her yarns.

The time has come for us to launch this special design and what better way than to host a Mystery KAL?Ā  I know I’ve been teasing you for months and now you can find out for yourself what the design looks like!

It’s coming soon!

Tina will be hosting the KAL in her new Ravelry group (don’t forget to give mine some love too šŸ˜‰ ) and you can get the required yarn from her and a discounted pattern from me. Until August 10, the pattern will be discounted 50%Ā  and after that it will be released to the public at the beginning of October.

The first clue will be sent out on August 12 and one every week after that for 5 more weeks (6 total).

More information can be found in Tina’s Press Release šŸ™‚
