WIP Wednesday: New and Not-As-New

Exciting stuff this week folks! I’m not working on the Cascades anymore and instead have not one, but TWO projects on the needles that I’m excited to share with you.

As my post on Friday stated, I’m getting back to the Hualpa Kimono by We Are Knitters. I picked it up again the other day and am enjoying the colorwork while crossing my fingers that the bumpy textures block out (I know they will but that’s the worry with all colorwork, is it not?).

The other project is the Peony Shawl by Kat Riddell. This one I’m knitting out of some long-stashed Hazel Knits Entice MCN in the appropriately named Hoppy Blonde colorway.  This yarn is special (and not just because it’s a merino, cashmere and nylon blend). My friend Freshy brought me this when she visited me in Albuquerque in 2013!IMG_3232

What are you working on this week?

  1. Every time I knit colorwork I have to stretch it out periodically and say, “Okay, this is what it will look like blocked, keep trekking.” Your Peony Shawl is looking great-friend yarn is the best!

    1. I’m glad I’m not the only one! I do like knitting colorwork but this is the first time I’ve done it with cotton and I’m just a little wary. Must charge forth though, it’ll all work out somehow!

  2. I’m about 3 seconds away from ordering the Hualpa Kimono kit…I just need to decide on colors!!! I am curious to see how the colorwork evens out after blocking in the cotton. I’m sure it will be beautiful and I know you’ll report back!! 🙂 Can’t wait to see the progress on the Peony shawl too!! What a thoughtful friend!

    1. Do it! It’s not a difficult design, a few rectangles sewn together, no shaping or anything. It’s good practice for stranded colorwork and they have some great color options 😀

  3. I’ve got so many projects going and I really should get back to them. ::sigh:: Socks, more socks, lots of socks, a sweater, and I have yarn wound to start a cowl that’s been sitting in my library for awhile…….it never ends.
