Last Thursday night we wanted to go camping. We picked a spot, mapped it out, packed up the car and the dog and off we went.
The drive was gorgeous, of course, we explored some new roads, saw some wildlife, some changing leaves and gorgeous views of mountains and the city. When we got to the road to get to our campsite, however, we started seeing a lot of signs. A lot of “4WD ROAD” and “EXPENSIVE TOWING FEES.” and “HIGH CLEARANCE VEHICLES ONLY!” types of signs.
Sadly to say, my little Subaru can handle mud and snow and ice but it does not have a high clearance. We poked along as far as we could on the road and decided to turn around when the going got too rough.
After squashing my poopy ‘tude, we decided to have ourselves a little picnic overlooking the reservoir we planned to camp next to. We cooked up our dinner, drank our milk stout and watched the sun set. Nick with his hangdrum and me with my knitting (and Lisa with her….enthusiasm).
It wasn’t exactly how we’d planned it, but we tried to make the best of it and ended up having a great time. Lots of layers and being bundled in knits helped.
Did you have any adventures this weekend?
That looks like a great picnic spot! It’s always a bummer when plans don’t quite work out, but it sounds like you guys had a great time with Plan B!
