Larimer Scarf

If you want a cozy, massive scarf-wrap-cessory, my latest design which will be published in the Knitscene Fall 2014 issue could be your match!

The Larimer Scarf bares a striking resemblence to the over-sized scarf worn by Mr. Kravitz and even calls for epic fringe-y bits on the ends too.

Bonus: If you wrap this scarf around your neck a few times, it can double as a neckbrace.

The scarf calls for 8 skeins of FibraNatura’s Llamalini in the lotus colorway.  I was a little worries about how the yarn would feel with that mix of fibers but it’s actually very soft and even seems to do well if you throw it in the dryer!

Even with it’s gigantic size, this scarf knits up super quickly on size US 9 (5.5 mm) needle.

FO Friday: Braided Slouch

I finished my second Braided Slouch shortly after the cruise we took on Sunday and I’m totally in love with it!  I love the color, first and foremost, but I love the drape and the weight, it sits perfectly on my long, straight hair.  I find that I look best in slouchy hats, they don’t give me as much hat hair, if I wear them all day, and because I have bangs it prevents them from getting squished over my eyes or tucked and odd-looking post-wear.IMG_7433

This hat was fun to knit a second time around, and even with sock yarn and smaller needles, it seems like it flew off!  IMG_7434

Linking up with Tami, as usual!  What did you finish this week?  Are there any patterns that you like to knit over and over again?

A few weeks (months?) back my online friend Freshy and I had discussed perhaps organizing a small KAL for ourselves.  We both fell in love with the Aidez cardiganthe moment we saw it and wanted it in our closets (as do some 998 of other knitters who have knit this adorable cardigan).

Mmm Squooshy Cables

We set our start date for Labor Day and I had hoped to find another skein (preferably 2) of the yarn I chose to use, Malabrigo Worsted before then as I only had three skeins and I needed at least one more per the yardage requirements.  Sadly, I was unable to find any in the yarn shops we stopped at on the way to and from Denver and Durango (road trips are supposed to include random yarn stops right?  I thought so too).

Mmm Squooshy Malabrigo

I’ve wound my three skeins and swatched and have decided to continue in hopes that during the knitting process I’ll stumble upon the exact skeins that I need and won’t have to knit the arms in a different color or perhaps leave the cardigan as a vest (although that would be pretty cute too…).

What knits are you hoping to add to your wardrobe this fall?
