Pints & Purls #38: DirtWolf Double IPA

This is the thirty-eighth in a series of installments that will highlight one of my favorite brews and which knits to go with it!  None of the breweries or yarn companies are compensating me – these are just my opinions on my personal experiences!

Brew: DirtWolf Double IPA

Brewer: Victory

Malts: Imported two-row malts

Hops: Whole flower Citra, Chinook, Simcoe and Mosaic

IBU:

ABV: 8.7%IMG_6746

Flavors: This is my kind of beer – floral and slightly sweet in that way only delicious IPA’s can be.  Full flavored with slightly assertive bits that pique your interest.

Knit Pairings:  Because this beer is full and ever-so-slightly assertive, I’d pair it with some knitting that is wholesome and comforting if slightly indulgent.

Pints & Purls Edition 34: Castaway

This is the thirty-fourth in a series of installments that will highlight one of my favorite brews and which knits to go with it!  None of the breweries or yarn companies are compensating me – these are just my opinions on my personal experiences!

Brew: Castaway IPA

Brewer: Kona Brewing

Malts: Pale (Premium 2-row)

Hops: Galaxy, Citra, Simcoe, Milenium

IBU: 50

ABV: 6%IMG_3904

Flavors: Citrusy and floral, this is a great IPA for the summa’ time!  Crisp and easy to drink with enough hop/malt balance to keep it from being too heavy and filling.

Knit Pairings: This beer would be a great addition to some “afternoon in the hammock” knitting – I’m talking linen, hemp, cotton, silk and all the blends.  Whip up a cute little market bag or light summer cardigan and sip on the beer through the process, they’re a match made in heaven.

Pints & Purls Edition 22: Falco

This is the twenty-second in a series of installments that will highlight one of my favorite brews and which knits to go with it!  None of the breweries or yarn companies are compensating me – these are just my opinions on my personal experiences!

Brew: Falco

Brewer: Evil Twin Brewing

Malts:

Hops:

Flavors:This is a bitter IPA with very little of the creamy undertones other IPAs come with.  It tastes pine-y and floral and has a crisp aftertaste.  It also seems to hold the chill longer (although there’s no scientific proof of that).

Knit Pairings:  I’d pair this beer with something modern to knit – not your stand-by wool hat or sweater, something with pop and color, possibly graphic designs, neon and a unique blend of fibers!  Have fun with it, try something new!
