New Year, New Knitting! – A KAL

Welcome to 2015!  I hope you’ve all made it to this side of the holidays happy and healthy and ready to knit something new (selfish knitting maybe?).New Year new knitting kal badge

I want to start this year off with a bang and part of my plan for that includes hosting a Knit-Along!

From now until January 31st, get 20% off any of my self-published patterns using the code: 15SLLKAL.

The KAL will run from February 1st through March 31st.  That gives you two whole months to knit up a thing or two – just for yourself, for your favorite knit-worthy friends and family, for whomever!

All finished projects knit from any of my patterns posted in this thread in my Ravelry group will be eligible to win the prize package. Garments, accessories – they all count!  And if you finish more than one of my designs and post a photo to the thread by the end of March, you’ll be entered more than once!  A winner will be chosen the first week of March and announced here on the blog and in the thread.

The Prize Package includes:

  • Everybody’s favorite – yarn!
  • A $15 gift certificate to my Ravelry store (only my self-published patterns are eligible)
  • Buttons
  • Stitch markers

What are you looking forward to making this year?

Fall KAL with SillyLittleLady’s Patterns!

I think that early fall is the perfect time to do a KAL.  The weather may not be exactly starting to turn cold again, but at least with school starting back up and the holidays looming ever closer in the distance, we knitters are starting to think about fall knitting!IMG_9438

I’m hosting a KAL in my Ravelry group beginning on August 12th and ending on September 27th.  So, it’ll be a nice long length of time to crank out that perfect fall sweater, a few accessories or something totally different (::coughnewstuffcomingnextweekcough::)!IMG_8629

To participate, all you have to do is knit any of my patterns during that time frame!  Share your progress in the group thread and when you finish an item (or two, or three!) share it as well and you’ll be entered to win an awesome prize that will be announced in bits and pieces through to the end!  The more projects you finish, the more entries you’ll receive.  Entries will close on September 27th at midnight and a winner will be announced the following week.Holly Priestley-5

All KAL participants can use the following code from today through August 13th to get 20% off your pattern purchase:20 percent off coupon fall kal

Will you be participating?  What are you going to knit up this fall?

KAL Giveaway Winner!

First and foremost I want to thank everyone for participating and congratulate everyone who’s managed to finish their shawl, whether or not it was during the KAL period! (Hint: clicking any of the photos will take you to the Ravelry pages of the makers)

Special mention to NMStacey who got a late start and knit her hands off to get as close to finishing the shawl as she could before time was up!

The shawls in the KAL were all knit in awesome colors, some from Candy Skein and others not, but I really like how the textural differences really pop with different yarn choices

And now, the part I know everyone is interested in, the giveaway!  According to the group thread, we had 10 participants who finished and posted pictures in the group before time was up, and the winner, chosen by Random.org, is:

I love this version of the shawl, I love the colors she chose and that, even though she had to bind off with a separate color, it all looks so deliberate and funky!

I think it’s so awesome how international the internet, knitting and Ravelry are, I know to be on the lookout when I visit Australia and keep my eyes open for a Sweet Summer Rays shawl!

Have you made this shawl yet?  Or used any of Candy Skein’s yarns? (They’re fabulous, you totally should).

New Design and a KAL!!!

IMG_8019As I’m sure you know that I’ve been working on a design with some Sweet Fingering yarn from Candy Skein.  That design is now finished and we’d love to offer a KAL for it!IMG_7969

Sweet Summer is a small shawl that uses only 1 skein of Sweet Fingering (438 yds).  It’s great for a first shawl project or something to use up those gorgeous single skeins you have in your stash.  It features basic knit and purl stitches with simple increases and yarn overs.  Textural changes reveal a graphic sun ray pattern branching into an easy lace border meant to mimic the way light and heat radiate from the sun’s surface.IMG_7965

The Details:

  • Start Date: April 15, 2013
  • End Date: May 15, 2013
  • The KAL will be held in SillyLittleLady’s Group
  • Coupon Code for 20% off the Ravelry pattern and 15% off yarn from Candy Skein: sweetsummerkal
  • The coupon code will be valid until April 16th for those participating in the KAL
  • There will be a giveaway package mailed to one lucky winner chosen by random number generator of those who link pictures of a finished project by May 16th to the Pattern Projects.

Please play along on Instagram!  Take a picture of your yarn, wip, anything about the KAL and tag both @candyskein and @thesillylittlelady along with the tag #sweetsummerkal.IMG_8018

All members who produce a finished shawl will be entered to win a giveaway package, just don’t forget to link it to the pattern page on Ravelry so that I can enter you!IMG_8021

More Yarn Porn, and Soon a KAL!

This beautiful yarn is Superwash Corriedale/Nylon in a fingering weight from LMS Studio Arts in the Giddy Gherkin colorway and I’m so excited to start swatching with it!IMG_8033

It’s a gorgeous, delicate pastel-ish green and I think it’s perfect for the coming Spring that we all want so badly.  IMG_8034

I’m thinking a sweet, light Spring/Summer hat, it’ll be just the touch of soft warmth that a cool breeze or shady tree call for.IMG_8036

And the KAL is coming soon for that design I’ve been teasing you with, watch this space 😉IMG_8021

Mystery KAL – Compass Rose Stole

In case you haven’t heard, Tina of Bittersweet Woolery and I have been collaborating for lots of a few months on a design using her yarns.

The time has come for us to launch this special design and what better way than to host a Mystery KAL?  I know I’ve been teasing you for months and now you can find out for yourself what the design looks like!

It’s coming soon!

Tina will be hosting the KAL in her new Ravelry group (don’t forget to give mine some love too 😉 ) and you can get the required yarn from her and a discounted pattern from me. Until August 10, the pattern will be discounted 50%  and after that it will be released to the public at the beginning of October.

The first clue will be sent out on August 12 and one every week after that for 5 more weeks (6 total).

More information can be found in Tina’s Press Release 🙂

Mystery KAL Coming Soon!

I’ve been teasing you with it for months and really, that’s not going to change.  Instead, Tina of Bittersweet Woolery and I will be hosting a mystery KAL so you can unravel the final design yourselves!

undulating waves of yarn

In a thread in her newly-created Ravelry Group, Tina gives a few details about the KAL to whet your appetite, I only want to further her mission and get ya’ll as excited as we are about this collaboration 🙂

Aidez Post-Poned

Ugh.

Remember that KAL I was doing with Freshy?  The one where we both going to finally knit the Aidez for ourselves and be supremely happy with the phenomenal results?

Mine has been postponed.

The yarn I chose isn’t getting gauge and although I do love the fabric created by the yarn, it just won’t work for this sweater and so I’m putting it aside until I can design something phenomenal out of it for myself.

Now doesn't that scream to be made into squooshy cables wrapped around my body? I thought so too.

I suppose this post-ponement isn’t altogether bad, I *do* have another excuse to go yarn shopping right?  I simply must get appropriate yarn for Aidez so that I can don this oh-so-freaking-cute cardigan by the time its cold enough outside.

Have you knit Aidez?  Share your stories with me!  I’m always enjoying others’ renditions of this immediate classic 🙂
