Pints & Purls Edition 36: Saison Song

This is the thirty-sixth in a series of installments that will highlight one of my favorite brews and which knits to go with it!  None of the breweries or yarn companies are compensating me – these are just my opinions on my personal experiences!

Brew: Strawberry Saison Song

Brewer: Horny Goat Brewing Company

Malts:

Hops:

IBU:

ABV: 6.5%IMG_5931

Flavors: If you can imagine having strawberry flavor without the fruity sweetness and combine that with the crisp and mild grassy bit – you can almost imagine what this tastes like.  I haven’t had strawberry mixed with beer yet but I like this one.

Knit Pairings:  Playful, assertive and fun, I recommend knitting some special novelty yarn with this beer.  I know, I know, I don’t recommend novelty yarn ever but if you’re going to have fun with the sippin’, you might as well have fun with the knittin’!  I’m thinking something with a fun texture, maybe some little sparkly bit, something you wouldn’t normally dig into to really bring out the uniqueness of the brew!

Notes: I wasn’t able to find a lot of the information that I usually include with this beer, I’ll update it as I’m able to!

Pints & Purls Edition 34: Castaway

This is the thirty-fourth in a series of installments that will highlight one of my favorite brews and which knits to go with it!  None of the breweries or yarn companies are compensating me – these are just my opinions on my personal experiences!

Brew: Castaway IPA

Brewer: Kona Brewing

Malts: Pale (Premium 2-row)

Hops: Galaxy, Citra, Simcoe, Milenium

IBU: 50

ABV: 6%IMG_3904

Flavors: Citrusy and floral, this is a great IPA for the summa’ time!  Crisp and easy to drink with enough hop/malt balance to keep it from being too heavy and filling.

Knit Pairings: This beer would be a great addition to some “afternoon in the hammock” knitting – I’m talking linen, hemp, cotton, silk and all the blends.  Whip up a cute little market bag or light summer cardigan and sip on the beer through the process, they’re a match made in heaven.

Pints & Purls Edition 20: 1900

This is the twentieth in a series of installments that will highlight one of my favorite brews and which knits to go with it!  None of the breweries or yarn companies are compensating me – these are just my opinions on my personal experiences!

…………………………………..IMG_1853

Brew:  1900

Brewer: Fort Collins Brewery

Malts: German Melanoiden, Munich

Hops: WillametteIMG_1856

Flavors: Simple, clean beer with a good balance of hops and malts.  Refreshing, not overly floral or creamy this beer would work for just about any scenario!

Knit Pairings:  Because this beer is great for any occasion, it’s also great for any knitting!  I highly recommend pairing this beer with a social knitting project – knit nights, girls nights, boys nights, Wednesday nights – any night!  I don’t drink in the morning, but if you do, this may be a good morning brew too, I hear it pairs well with fruity things.

Notes:  I had to pick a brew from Fort Collins for my first new-life-in-Loveland beer, maybe I can go on a brewery tour sometime, anyone wanna join?  We can scope out the yarn stores too 😉

Snowmass Chili Pepper and Brew Fest

Happy Monday!  My weekend was a very busy one, but it was a blast!  Friday and Saturday I spent in Snowmass (near Aspen, CO) at the Chili and Brew Fest.

The perfect size for sampling

There was plenty of delicious beer and all kinds of chili but, sadly, only two veggie chilis.  Although both were delicious, it would have been nice to see more of them around.

the drive was so pretty

With music playing constantly in the background and rotating DJs and bands, there was always something to dance to while waiting in line for the next brewery and plenty of good people-watching to partake in.

What did you do this weekend?  Fun things I hope!
