WIP Wednesday

The complicated thing has had much progress made, after a few re-starts, and even though it looks like a crumpled mess now, I know it’s going to be a great sweater when it’s done!IMG_4104

The fisherman rib hat is coming along also but because it’s my work-knitting, I don’t have anything better than crappy cell phone pictures to show you for it.  I also made progress on this little hat I think I forgot to tell you about.IMG_4105

I was able to knit on it during the drive to and from the Wool Market this weekend and the color is very cheery 🙂

WIP Wednesday: Easy and Complicated

I started two new projects this week in addition to the first sleeve of the orange sweater (that *is* growing consistently, I promise).IMG_3991

The first project is an easy fisherman’s rib hat out of this super soft and squooshy simplinatural by Hikoo (sorry for the poor picture quality, this project is at work and not where my better camera is)IMG_20140604_074519_666

The second project is a test knit of a complicated but awesome sweater design (it doesn’t look complicated yet, but trust me, this thing is going to be fun).IMG_3985

WIP Wednesday (on a Thursday): It’s Comin’ Along

I meant to post this on Wednesday but things have been so busy that, obviously, that didn’t happen.

The first sleeve of the orange sweater is underway and is moving right along.IMG_3971

The sleeves have become my home-knitting because they’re on dpns and I have to follow a chart and blah blah blah.  They haven’t been worked on a whole ton, sadly, but it’s still progress!IMG_3973

WIP Wednesday: Not the sweater you were imagining

I bet ya’ll showed up to hear about how I totally kicked that orange sweater’s butt and how it’s totally awesome and finished and wonderful.

I’m just going to be honest, if that’s the reason you came here today, you’re probably going to be disappointed.

The state of the orange sweater is as follows:IMG_3791

Instead, after realizing that my gauge for dpns is far larger than for the circulars I was knitting the rest of the sweater in, I ripped out the sleeve and started on a new sweater entirely.IMG_3777

Luckily, it looks like I do have a snowball’s chance in hell of actually finishing this one before the weekend.IMG_3781

WIP Wednesday: Another Hat

The orange cardi is still on hold this week, all I have left to do is the sleeves but instead I volunteered to test knit a hat pattern for Cheryl Chow!IMG_3661

I’ve mentioned before that I like to have smaller projects on-the-go with my larger projects, yes? This is one of those.IMG_3665

I love the delicate, lacy detail – it’s unique and interesting to knit.IMG_3663

I’m worried now that I’ll run out of yarn though before the finish line!  Fingers crossed that I squeak by with a yard or two left!

WIP Wednesday: Old and New

Now that the purple sweater is done, I’ve gone back to working on the orange cardigan.IMG_3342

I’m working the lace chart a few extra times to make up the difference in length called for.  I’m not too concerned about running out of yarn,  I’m going to finish the body then work the ribbing around the body front before I work the sleeves.  The sleeves don’t need to be full length and they’d be easier to customize than the band would be.IMG_3343

It’s a complicated enough project that I don’t want to take it anywhere so I’ve got other small projects on the go as well, unfortunately, I’ve finished all the ones I’ve started and need to go stash diving for more (wait, that isn’t unfortunate…that’s a good thing!)

WIP Wednesday: Still Growing

I’ve made a lot of progress on the body of the Bailiwick pullover and I should be starting the bottom ribbing soon!  Then I just have to knit the sleeves and wearability will be imminent. IMG_2996

I haven’t worked on the Atalanta at all really this week and don’t have new pretty pictures to show you of that project.  I did, however, start and finish a new project this past weekend which I’ll share on Friday! IMG_2868

What are you working on this week?  Long-term projects? Short-term?

WIP Wednesday: Progress

I got a lot of knitting time in this week and I’m happy with the progress I’m making on both of my sweaters!IMG_2833

The Bailiwick pullover saw another hiccup last week when I finished the back and was about to join when I realized I hadn’t done the proper number of repeats for the first bit of texture (note to self: read the pattern more than once, don’t think you’re “smarter” than the pattern) and so I had to rip back and redo most of the back but now the body is joined and it’s been smooth sailing!IMG_2835

The Atalanta is seeing some progress too although not quite as measurable an amount, it’s still beautiful and I am still excited to wear it!IMG_2838

WIP Wednesday: New Project, New Year

As I mentioned yesterday, I do have a new project on the needles for myself since I finished my holiday knitting and also my work knitting (I love my job, have I mentioned that recently?).IMG_2563

This is the wonderful wonderful yarn from my trip to the Taos Wool Festival and the yarn itself is Dyed By Darryl from Your Daily Fiber in Fort Collins!  A great little happenstance there, I didn’t realize where the yarn was from until we were in the process of purchasing it.IMG_2557

I’m making the Atalanta sweater with some mods, namely I want the sweater to have fronts.  I’m making the medium size and added stitches to the CO so that I can have about 4 inches of front in lace on each side, then with the ribbing, I hope it’ll come close to closing.

Linking up with Tami, as always!  What are you working on this New Years?

WIP Wednesday: More Seekrits

Well, not seekrits, just one really.IMG_2329

This particular item is working up quite quickly and I’m totally in love with the way the stitch pattern is coming out in the yarn that would otherwise be difficult to work with.  I wish I could tell you more about it right now, but sadly you’ll have to wait for a little while!
